Collection: stool & urine

Biomarkers: 30

The gut is more than a digestion machine—it’s a command center for immunity, mood, metabolism, and inflammation. Over 70% of the immune system lives in the gut. So do trillions of microbes. When your gut isn’t right, you are not right.

The Gut Health BioMap provides a high-resolution assessment of gut integrity, nutrient absorption, detoxification, microbial balance, inflammation, and kidney function.

Did you know: IgA (Immunoglobulin A) plays a frontline role in mucosal immune defense—low IgA = impaired gut barrier. Additionally, people with chronic gut inflammation are often Vitamin D deficient.

BioMap included tests are listed below.

    • Reference range: <50 mcg/g

    • Fecal calprotectin is the most clinically validated biomarker for gut inflammation, leaky gut, and early digestive disorders.

    • Elevated calprotectin suggests intestinal inflammation (e.g., IBS, IBD, gut dysbiosis, food sensitivities).

    • Calprotectin in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis can be five to several thousand times above the reference population (50 mcg/g or less).

    • Collection: stool sample to be collected at home.

    • Specimen: at least 3 grams of frozen solid stool.

    • Submission: at your scheduled appointment time, in a leak-proof screw cap cup, submit the frozen sample to the lab.

    • Screens for microscopic blood in stool.

    • A critical test for early detection of GI pathology, ensuring that gut health is not compromised by silent bleeding conditions.

    • Test detects Helicobacter pylori, a bacteria that causes ulcers, acid reflux, chronic gut inflammation, and gastric cancer risk.

    • Essential for detecting and addressing bacterial overgrowth that can lead to long-term digestive dysfunction.

    • Urinalysis helps to round out a gut health assessment by detecting downstream consequences of GI dysfunction such as inflammation, dehydration, or nutrient imbalances.

    • Collection method: sample collected at the lab, immediately before analysis.

    • Instructions: first-morning urine is best. Perform a mid-stream catch. Avoid heavy hydration before collection.

    • Tested biomarkers: 27
